As one of the great cities in France, it can be expected that Auxerre has more than its share of sights and attractions that are sure to draw in the holiday crowd. One of the most popular sights of Auxerre is its Clock Tower.
This tower can be located in the centre of the bustling city. Constructed as one of the primary towers that comprised the fortifications of the medieval city, the Clock Tower was erected in 1483. The clock was not added until in the 17th century and it is now known as one of the more fascinating and interesting example of its kind. With one hand pointing to the time and the other indicating the day of the lunar month, the clock takes more than 29 days to circulate each and every month. Being a great landmark that is in the centre of the city, it can be easily understood why the Clock Tower is among the famous sights of Auxerre.
