Bora Bora and Tahiti are both excellent destinations that can be enjoyed when staying in French Polynesia. Bora Bora is home to magnificent rain forests, steamy lagoons, sunny beaches, and vibrant coral reefs. In its many jungles visitors will come upon hidden temples or ‘marae’. Marae are ancient temples made from stone used for worship and for community gatherings. Examples in Bora Bora are the Taharuu Marae and the Marotetini Marae. Tahiti is known worldwide for its beauty. Visitors will want to stop at the Pape’ete Public Market in the capital. This daily market sells goods to locals and tourists. Every day at 16:00 the catch of the day is offloaded from the fishing boats and sold from the docks. Stalls sell fruit, vegetables, and baskets woven from palm fronds. The House of James Norman Hall is also located in Tahiti. A famous WWII hero and author, Hall is one of the area’s famous residents and his home where he co-wrote 'Mutiny on the Bounty' has been turned into a museum.
