Esslingen is a city absolutely filled with relics of the past, preserving the days of a Germany long gone by. There are many such attractions to visit while in the city of Esslingen, and just one of these is the Frauenkirche, a small church dating back to the 14th century. The Frauenkirche isn’t a massive basilica or cathedral like one would typically think of as a tourist attraction; rather, it’s a small town meeting-hall kind of establishment, painstakingly sculpted in the Gothic school of architecture, giving it a very distinct and intimate atmosphere.
Visitors to the Frauenkirche are encouraged to walk around the interior of the church to get a feel for the life of the average churchgoer in the middle ages of Germany, or even to attend a service as the church is still very much in operation after all these years. In order to fund their services, the Frauenkirche also has a church shop where one can buy souvenirs of their experience, and a variety of hand made crafts.
