Stuttgart is a big city, and as such, unlike many smaller towns, it features more than one town square. In addition to the Schlossplatz, which is of course the largest, there is also the noteworthy Schillerplatz. Named in honor of the famous German author Friedrich Schiller, this area is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the city. It also features the city’s largest concentration of historic buildings, so it makes a great place to start exploring the city and all its wonders.

Notable buildings include the Old Chancellory from the 16th century, and the Prinzenbau from the 17th. These are both marvelous works of architecture that truly deserve a visit by any German tourist who is looking for an edifying Stuttgart experience. After you’ve seen the sights and you want to take a load off, there are plenty of modern cafes, restaurants, and even some bars, that surround the square, all of which are rather nice.
