Stuttgart is a city full of sights both ancient and modern. There is natural beauty to be had here as well as many examples of the architectural genius of the German people. In some senses, it is a great cultural center as well. However, among all the famous attractions of Stuttgart, one reigns supreme: the Neues Schloss Palace. Located just outside the main town square of Stuttgart, Schlossplatz, this palace is easy to find and makes a great place to visit during your tour of Germany.
The palace is a masterwork of Baroque architecture and dates back to the 18th century. It was originally intended as a residence for the monarchy, but reverted to the status of a public museum in the early 20th century. However, it was largely destroyed during the bombings of World War II, and although it has been restored, it is no longer open to the public. Visitors then must content themselves with the beautiful façade of the palace, which is more than enough.
