Hotels in Lenbachhaus
Germany is home to many fine art galleries and museums, but none are so intimate as the Lenbachhaus in Munich. The Lenbachhaus is a stately mansion that hails from the late 19th century and originally served as the home of a prominent art collector, Franz von Lenbach. After his death, his collection stayed on as a local attraction, and the site was eventually named the Municipal Art Gallery of Munich. The house stores a huge variety of paintings from all manner of German artists, ranging from the Gothic age of design, all the way up to present, contemporary imaginings. Many of the paintings on display are from famous artists of Munich, and of especial interest to visitors who are looking for cultural and historical insights, they represent a powerful look at the regions classic Blue Rider school of art theory. The collection, of course, isn't all local to Munich. Many famous international painters have their work housed here as well, chief among them probably being Dali and Picasso. Visitors are free to stop in and browse the collection, or even attend one of the lectures that are frequently held here.
