There is room for 60 guests at the hotel’s restaurant Rikes Gasthaus, which in summer is extended into the original Berlin courtyard, housing an old fountain that was rediscovered during renovation work.
The restaurant’s traditional kitchen offers a selection of cuisine from historic Berlin and the surrounding region, re-establishing forgotten dishes from ancient recipes. One particular house specialty is 'Coachman's Goulash'. The dish was created at the time when brewers' draymen still carted the wooden barrels on horse-drawn drays to Berlin's taverns. Braised in Berliner beer, the meat becomes tender and aromatic, and is perfectly complemented by beer from the traditional Schultheiss Brewery.

Reviews on Hotel Altberlin am Potsdamer Platz Berlin
In partnership with
Cons: As you enter the hotel door, very poor first impressions, due to old dusty manakin of a girl and child, scruffy hotel halls. these two areas really let this hotel down. if they addressed this i would definately stay agin.
Cons: Quite noisy street
Cons: Traffic noise at front of hotel and air consitioning wld have been a boon in the hot weather
Cons: Some refurbishment is needed in the communal areas. the bedrooms we had were all quite small, especially the single rooms. if travelling alone, it might be better to specify a double room.
