"Pleasant Surprise"

Stayed at the Meininger as an Alt to another Hotel that I have stayed in down the road a few times. Had stayed at the same hotel/backpackers in munich as was expecting similar. The staff were nice but the room was much better than expected. Brand new renovated bathroom of 5 star quality. (I travel allot for work and stay 5* allot so know. Beds didn't seem that great but I had the best night sleep in them. Great location and easy walking to many attractions and transport..... and dirt cheap for the budget that we required.

The Meininger Hotel in Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is situated in the heart of the lively, central district of Berlin Mitte, 5 minutes walking from the renowned Friedrichstraße culture and shopping street. Oranienburger Straße and the Hackesche Markt close by are well-known for a colourful mixture of cafés, galleries, restaurants, bars and shops. Almost opposite the hotel you will see the magnificently decorated New Synagogue. Unter den Linden, Alexanderstraße streets, Brandenburger Gate, Reichstag, Fernsehturm, Berliner Dom cathedral are not far either.

The MEININGER Hotel in Berlin Mitte Humboldthaus is located in a historical spot: this is where the natural scientist Alexander von Humboldt lived until his death. The modern hotel preserves the spirit of the universal genius and transports it to our times: the 118 unique rooms, equipped with high-class accessories are individually designed by DaWanda artists. Each floor has a theme based on one of Humboldt’s fields of work: nature, freedom, truth. The public areas are decorated with comic strips about Humboldt drawn by Cuban artists and printed on wallpaper. The hotel only has modern, non-smoking rooms. On the fifth floor you can find several gallery rooms: you sleep up on the gallery.

The MEININGER Berlin Mitte Hotel preserves the spirit of the universal genius and transports it to our times, integrating the creative energy of the neighbourhood. There are references to Humboldts numerous expeditions and discoveries all over the property.
