The hotel itself was clean, modern almost club-like in its decor yet contemporary and somehow inviting. the room was spare but quiet and comfortable with a tv. hotel location is great, with numerous places to eat, ranging from top notch restaurant to boutique lunch counter to a sausage joint nearby. not far from the main, and the riverside walk popular with runners and strollers. a respectable distance but eminently doable walk from the commercial district and other attractions. the hotel served a great breakfast of typical german fare -- cold cuts, bread, boiled eggs, coffee, juice, cereal, etc. this hotel gave me exactly what i needed -- a clean, quiet, comfortable room for one night's stay and a hearty breakfast to get me started in the morning.
No phone to be found anywhere. if you want a wake up call, you must obtain an alarm clock at the desk. the staff was polite, efficient and helpful, but i wouldn't necessarily say friendly. parking is 8 euro in the hotel lot per day. all in all, the trade off between frills and low-cost accommodation is a success, but it's not for the detail-oriented traveler who enjoys pampering. i would definitely stay here again.
