This Hanseatic town seeps its history into the streets. The buildings reflect Wismar culture. You can visit the Wasserkunst, a pumping station for the city from 1602 to the mid 19th century. Architectural Wismar attractions include the Gothic St. George’s Church the place of worship for craftsmen and St. Mary’s Church with its 14th century tower. Other Wismar sights consist of the Prince’s Court, a 16th century work of Italian and late Gothic combined and the Medieval Rathaus. Shopping in Wismar is also an option. If you have a weekend in Wismar, shopping is plausible but so is a visit to the Island of Usedom and its nature reserve.
