One of the tallest of all buildings in Dusseldorf, the Rheinturm Tower is a fairly modern addition to one of the most modern and advanced cities in all of Germany. In a skyline full of imposing cathedrals, museums, and other classical buildings, the Rheinturm Tower truly stands out, making it one of the most popular attractions for visitors in recent years.
The Rheinturm Tower is actually a large telecommunications tower that is open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to come to the tower either at night or during the day to take an elevator to a lookout tower where they can get one of the best views of Dusseldorf that is available anywhere. While there, they can visit the tower’s restaurant, which also overlooks the city from a glorious, breathtaking height. In a curiously modern twist on the typical clock tower, the Rheinturm Tower also features the world’s largest digital clock, a lighted fixture on the shaft of the tower that can be seen for miles around.
