Germany is well known for its huge selection of museums dedicated to preserving ancient history and art from ages long past. Dusseldorf is of course no different and features plenty of attractions that are bound to appeal to the visitor looking for historical insights. However, one of the most fascinating of all their museums is the Kunst Palast, which is dedicated more to preserving the concept of art itself than the art of any one particular age of the past.
The Museum Kunst Palast, unlike many other museums throughout Germany, features exhibitions of artworks from the classical era on up to the present. Here, one might find a piece of modern Abstract Expressionism right next to the realist stylings of a Baroque or Renaissance painter. Beyond just painting, the museum also features a wide variety of sculptures, photography, and other types of works, including impressive temporary exhibits that accompany the main collection. No one else in Germany will you see such a cross-section of culture, both ancient and modern, and nowhere else will you gain the kind of insight into the true German spirit that this offers.
