What you need to know before traveling to Kassel

During the weekend, Kassel activities can include some very unusual sites. The hillside park called Wilhelmshöhe contains the Schloß Löwenburg which was built to look like it was crumbling. The builder Wilhelm wanted it to look like an authentic 1495 castle though it was built in the 18th century. A second castle is in the same park and is named Schloß Wilhelmshöhe. Also in Kassel is the Brüder-Grimm Museum for those who are fairy tale fans. Kassel sites include the statue of Herkules where you can have your picture made on the pedestal.
