Trier is home to many historical remnants of the Roman era of German history, and for those visitors who enjoy that sort of thing, one stop they definitely have to make is the Kaiserthermen Roman Baths. This Trier attraction is one of the oldest in the city, dating back to the 4th century, and once served as the Imperial baths alongside the other famous Roman bath in the city, the Barbarathermen.
In its time, the Kaiserthermen Roman baths were the third largest in the entire wall, and while it largely lies in ruins, the number of the walls and structures still standing is really rather impressive. Luckily, the main room of the facility is largely intact. In other areas, helpful maps indicate just what the original layout would have looked like. Visitors to the Roman bath are encouraged to explore and take in the sights on their own, a rare opportunity.
