You can find incredible old castles from the medieval and renaissance periods all over Germany, but in Bernburg, you’ll find a massive renaissance castle that doubles as a museum. Around the castle, there’s even a moat with a recently updated bear pit. The museum is dedicated to the history of the area, and throughout the rest of Bernburg, you’ll also find the suburban church of Saint Stephen, dating back about a thousand years, and numerous other examples of beautiful ancient architecture.
