There are numerous ruins that are very important pieces of the history of Germany. The ruin in the town of Magdeburg is called the Ruined Church of St. John. The church was from the 900’s and was a Gothic Church that was used quite extensively in that time. This Church of St. John has quite a sad history of being destroyed and rebuilt numerous times. The church was famous for many things such as the fact that Martin Luther preached there in the year 1524.

The church s of the year 1999 was reopened as a concert venue. However the walls and southern tower of the old church were also reconstructed so you can see many of the original parts it had when it was built. With each reconstruction after the church was destroyed there were many improvements and additions added to it making it a little better and more interesting.
