One of the fascinating attractions in Athens that can be found within the Acropolis is the House of the Arrhephoroi, or the House of the Bearers of Holy Things. A structure that is rectangular in shape, this house was constructed against the northern wall of the Acropolis and it features a courtyard and a porch to its left. However, it is the story behind the house that makes it quite attractive to visitors.

It is believed that the house used to be the home of four girls aged between seven and eleven years, and it belonged to Athen's noblest families. These girls were the assistants of the priestess of Athena, and their duties include making the new peplos that the goddess wore during each Panathenaic festival, which is celebrated once every four years. Some of the attractions in Athens that can be found near the house are the Cave of Aglauros and the sanctuary of Eros, which is accessible through a passage that can be reached from the courtyard's steps.
