Adoringly called the Pom-pom Show by quite a lot of people, the ceremony of the changing of the guards at the parliament building is one of the most beloved activities in Athens that both locals and tourists look forward to. As soon as it is almost time to change guards, you can expect a great number of people waiting excitedly to witness the ceremony.

There are two guards that are always standing in front of the Parliament Building. These guards have kilts and pom-pom shoes on, and they appear so austere that they seem frozen in their places. On every hour, the guards will be changed. However, before the new ones take their places, a ceremonial walk is performed, which is one of the most awaited activities in Athens for tourists every day. However, it is during Sundays and special days like holidays that long-drawn ceremonies are performed before the changing of guards. This spectacle is really one of the crowd-drawers of the city, every week of every month, no matter what the season.
