Parliament Building Athens

Set at the square's highest point, the structure served as the palace of the royalty in the city until 1910. This was the year when the building was damaged by a fire. It was not until 1935 when the Parliament Building was reopened to become the National Assembly seat. Aside from being one of the most significant monuments in Athens, the building also captures the interest of the people through its changing of guards, which is done by the hour. Every Sunday, a bigger group of soldiers will be performing this ceremony.
