One of the Athens attractions that you should not fail to visit is the Museum of Traditional Pottery. Although there may be a number of people who'd say that this museum rightfully belongs in Kerameikos, where potters in the ancient times had their workshops, it has found its special niche on Melidoni Street in the city. This museum showcases contemporary pottery art.
Having been created by the foundation of the Georgios Psaropolous Family, the museum is now housed in a 19th century mansion that has been beautifully renovated. There are over 4,500 ceramic works in the museum that were done over the past three centuries, and all of them depict the skills that the Greeks possess in the art of pottery. As one of the Athens attractions, the museum also highlights its pottery workshops and organizes seminars as well. With its massive film and photo archive, the museum also serves as a centre for the documentation of different aspects of conventional pottery.
