The renowned plane tree of Hippocrates is one of the best attractions in Kos, aside from the resort Kardamena, the Castle of the Knights, the Asklepeion and the Avenue of Palms, among others. It can be found at the front of the Castle of the Knights, which is at the centre of the town and is quite near to the hotels in Kos.

The plane tree of Hippocrates is large tree and with its perimeter of twelve meters, it is even regarded to be the biggest tree in the whole of Europe, which makes it one of the most sought after tree among other popular attractions near accomodations in Kos. The locals of the area claim that the tree was planted by Hippocrates himself, who is known as the Father of Medicine, and who used the shade the big tree as a location for his teachings.
