Paradissi Hotels and Accommodation
Paradissi is a lively, traditional village set on the northern coast of the island of Rhodes, the largest of the Dodecanese islands. This group of a dozen islands is named after the Greek word ‘dodeka’, which means twelve, and is set in the southeastern part of the Aegean Sea, just a few kilometers off the coast of Turkey. The village, the entrance to which is marked by the ruins of a medieval fortress, is only 15kms from the city of Rhodes and it is only a conveniently short distance from the airport to your hotel doorstep. The very name of the village, ‘paradise’, serves to suggest the outstanding natural magnificence of the surrounding area, and perhaps even of the local womenfolk, said to be especially famed for their beauty. Paradissi is a well-developed tourist resort which offers accommodation at a host of discount hotels within easy reach of the beach and the crystal clear waters of the Aegean.
Booking through EasyToBook.com, and staying in the heart of the Municipality of Petaloudes, you will find yourself only minutes away from the Valley of the Butterflies, an extraordinary natural wonder. This enchanting area, with its lush vegetation and running waters, is where swarms of the rare Panaxia species of butterfly gather to lay their eggs. During the summer months, the slightest disturbance will see clouds of brightly colored butterflies rising from the trees and shrubs. The nearby village of Theologos is built in the traditional style of the island and is the site of the picturesque church of Agios Spiridonas, with its pretty white bell tower. A visit to the city of Rhodes provides the opportunity to explore one of the best-preserved fortresses in Europe, Rhodes Old Town. Here, you will experience not only a flavor of the Byzantine era, but also of the Middle Ages and the period of Turkish occupation. Amongst the many shops, hotels and restaurants that the town has to offer, can be found the magnificent Palace of the Grand Master, built in the 14th century by the Knights of Rhodes, as well as many Gothic and Byzantine churches and Turkish mosques.
