The greatest sights of Rhodes can be enjoyed from the vantage point of the site that holds the remnants of the Palace of the Knights of St. John. The palace was perched on the leveled area of a mountain in the city that offers the picturesque views of the mountains to the north, the splendid Kiotari coast to the south and sheer valleys on both its sides.
Probably the most isolated castle for knights found in the city, the Palace of the Knights of St. John is now a jumble of ruins that features ancient steps from a vaulted doorway that leads to ruins of battlements, wells, buttresses and walls. Unlike a lot of attractions in the city, the site of the palace's ruins is not signposted in any way. So, you will be left to wander on your own as you try to feel what the palace must have been like when it was still intact. Of course, you can just take advantage of the beautiful sights of Rhodes that can be seen from any spot around the site.
