When in Erétria, of course you must visit the ruins. You’ll find the remains of the theater and a temple to Dionysius, and a gymnasium with a bath house, among other ruins. The Khalkis Museum also offers many artifacts, including some from the Roman Empire. Just northeast of the town of Kárystos you’ll find the marble quarries of Myli. From here you can make a 3 hour climb to the top of Mt. Áyios Ilías, the highest peak in the Oàkhi range. The view at the top is magnificent.
