The smallest group of the Ionian Islands is given the name Paxi. Two of the biggest islands in this group are Paxos and Antipaxos. Famous in Greek mythology, it is said that Poseidon struck Corfu with his trident in order to create Paxi so that he could have some peace with his wife. You will find that the main town is Gaios, where you will find some stunning beaches and several bars, if you are looking for a little bit nightlife. Gaios is also home to a large harbor that some tourists find to be of interest, as well as shops selling traditional souvenirs. On the west coast of the island, many people like to go on boat journeys in order to see the fantastic white chalk cliffs and ‘blue caves’. Whether you simply want to sightsee or are interested in taking some beautiful photographs, this is worth doing.
