Monemvassia is a small Greek town on the southeast coast of the Peloponnese. Though it is small, it is definitely worth a visit. The town is home to a medieval fortress located on a small peninsula that is accessed via a bridge from the main town. It is often referred to as “The Castle” or the “Gibraltar of Greece”. The fortress sits high atop a rock, so in addition to being a great site for visitors, it also offers spectacular views of the town and the sea.
