Kalo Chorio Hotels and Accommodation

Staying in discount hotels in Kalo Chorio is an amazing way to enjoy the Lassithi region of Greece. The town is located on the northern edge of Crete and is only about an hour’s drive away from the Heraklion International Airport. The residents of Kalo Chorio and a few of the surrounding villages are known for tending to the vineyards that are famous for growing the grapes of a wine named Commandaria. It is a potent port style wine that has been made in the area for centuries. In fact, tourists that visit this charming town should always make the trip to the winery for tours and tastings.
The village is also known for its historical churches. The Church of St. George has been a part of the village since 1768. Although it is small, it holds some of the most beautiful artwork in all of Greece. The Church of Agia Marina is yet another attraction that you can see while staying in cheap hotels in or around Kalo Chorio. This church is actually located in the middle of the town and has a rather ornate hand carved Iconostasis. It is a screen that is used to separate the worshippers from the altar of the church. It was made in the early 1900’s and is integral to the church. A nature trail and the wonderful hospitality of this village are two more items that make Kalo Chorio such a wonderful place to visit, time and again.
