The historic town of Alonissos is filled with whitewashed buildings and narrow, winding streets and stairs which culminate at the top of the hill in its midst. From atop the hill visitors can find a spectacular view of Alonissos Island, Skopelos, and the Aegean Sea. Many travelers enjoy viewing the Palio Horio and what remains of the Byzantine churches, such as the chapel of Agio Anargyroi, after the earthquake which shook the town in 1965.
