Thessaloniki is one of the best cities that you could visit in Greece. Once you enter the city, you will be greeted by their famous landmark, the White Tower of Thessaloniki. Built in 15th century, this tower was used by the Ottomans as a prison area until the end of the 18th century. Inside the building, you will find the Thessaloniki Archaeological Museum where there are exhibits that relate to the Ottoman occupation. The city’s deep love for theater is made evident in the Thessaloniki Museum of Cinema. The city is also known for its religious structures, the most popular being the Church of Aghios Demetrios which was built in the 5th century to honor the Patron Saint of Thessaloniki. Another church of great interest is the beautiful 16th century Church of Saint George. As for festivals, the people of the city celebrates the Thessaloniki International Film Festival every 3rd week of November.
