Nothing tells the story of a country’s past and gives hints to its present and future quite like an art museum. Budapest, Hungary is lucky enough to have a few art museums within its limits, but you can’t miss the Ludwig Museum. The whole collection was donated in 1989 by prominent members of the Ludwig family and focuses mainly on the last 50 years of world contemporary art and the last 10 years of Hungarian art in particular.
Among the artists whose work is displayed here, you can expect to see some works by Picasso. Pop art and as mentioned, prominent modern Hungarian work and artists are highlighted as well. This museum is very popular and is often visited time and time again by locals and tourists alike. While the original collection came from one family, the museum is considering acquiring new works to keep the exhibits fresh and interesting.
