One of the things many people find so enchanting about Europe and Hungary especially is the native tradition of honoring the various types of religion. There is an excellent example of this in Eger with the Cathedral of Eger. This Roman Catholic structure has existed in this same spot since the Middle Ages, but in its current condition has only been there since the 1800's. The Cathedral is built in the neo-classical style and sits elegantly atop a hill. The sheer size of the church absolutely dominates the surrounding scenery.
When originally built the Cathedral of Eger was dedicated to St. John and St. Michael in respect to those saints' works to bring more people into the Catholic faith. With its amazing photo opportunities and lessons in Hungarian history, the cathedral should be on every visitor's trip list. This is also the site for many local festivals and other events.
