The major attraction of Tihany is the Benedictine Abbey. Founded in 1055 by King András I (King Andrew I), it remains a fine example of Romanesque and Baroque architecture. The crypt, the final resting place of the King, is Romanesque. So, too, are the lancet-arch windows and the 3-aisel crypt hall.
