The town of Nagykanizsa is one of those provinces known for its dedication to various themes and arts. Every October, the town is host to the International Jazz Festival. Famous jazz musicians from the region and the world congregate to this place celebrating music and life. The “Day of the Town” is also celebrated every April. They also have other festivals that include jazz festivals for the local musicians and wine festivals to exhibit the annual produce of the village. Historically, the town used to be an important trade area and the Church of Alsóváros is the proof of that. The stones that made the museum are made up of stones from the ruins of the castle. Part of the church is dedicated to the museum called the György Thúry Museum. The town is also a perfect place to be with the nature for the weekend. Nagykanizsa has the Csónakázó Lake, often visited for fishing and hunting.
