There are a number of trails for hikers to explore, as well as two working farms that are open to tourists.Natural features of interest in the Skaftafell National Park include the Svartifoss waterfall, the Vatnajökul glacial cap, arctic foxes, butterflies in the summer months and a wide variety of bird species. There is a variety of breathtaking scenery, thanks to the contrasting landscape and expansion of the park. Visitors are allowed to camp in designated areas for a nominal fee.
