The St. Colman's Cathedral, which one of Cobh's main attractions for the visitor, as it overlooks the Town of Cobh and the Cork Harbour. This beautiful setting is considered to be one of the best examples of its genres, as its 49-bell carillon is the only instrument of such calibre size both in Ireland and Britain. This carillon is played from the console within the belfry, consisting of a keyboard and a pedal board. The action is completely mechanical and there is no artificial assist.
The visitors can enjoy a free hour-long recitals that take place only on Sundays at 4:30 p.m. From May to September, usually given by the Cathedral Carillonneur, Adrian Gebeuers KSG. In 2007, the St. Colman's Cathedral commemorated its 80th anniversary where there guests from all over the world. The guests recitals are grant aided by Cork County Council, the Arts Council and the Cobh Town Council.
