Ennis is a small island town in County Clare, Ireland – it’s a great place to go if you want a quiet weekend. Ennis is filled with places of historic interest and you can book a guided walk around the town. If buildings and churches are your thing then the Ennis Friary which was founded in the thirteenth century is well worth a visit. Go to the end of O’Connell Street and visit the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, built between 1828 and 1842. If you are feeling adventurous then just a short drive from Ennis is the Knappogue Castle with its walled gardens.
