Connemara Park, opened in 1980, is a must do activity in the West of Ireland, County Galway. It is located just ten minutes away from the Lodge and exhibits an exhilarating array of views and landscapes which reveal an unforgettable scenery as one transcends uphill. The landscape is mantled by a blanket bog and wet heath vegetation with characteristic and varied wildlife. With the view of Tully mountain and its adjacent winding bays of clear blue water, it makes for a great welcoming view of the walk, especially with the recently built stone paths.
The Park is divided into three walks which cater for all, from beginner to expert. It is quite common and trendy to cover the three walks over different days, for a more relaxed and thorough experience. Indigenous plant species from the cold areas of Europe and the Arctic can be found high up in the mountains. There is also a varied birdlife of Meadow Pits, skylarks and chaffinches as some of the common song-birds within the park. There is also a summer Programme which includes nature mornings for children and guided walks.
