Clifden in Connemara was one of the last towns to be built in Ireland. Originally a very poor area the town was built up by John D’Arcy in order to turn it into a thriving centre of commerce based around its fishing, marble and wool resources.If you are staying elsewhere in Connemara then why not take time at the weekend.
