Glenveagh National Park is renowned to be one of the most celebrated gardens in Ireland, with its rugged and remote mountain valley. Dubbed the home of the two large herds of red deer in Ireland, it looks almost too good to be true with its Scottish style castle surrounded by one of the finest gardens in Ireland. Glenveagh is also considered to be an ideal starting habitat for the nearly extinct territorial bird of prey, the Golden Eagle. Re-introducing the Golden Eagle was one of the most exciting developments to have taken place in the park.

Wildlife in Glenveagh consists of natural woodlands of oak and birch which clothe the deep valley slopes that bisect the Park. This makes for a great activity to do in Donegal, as its unique landmarks will leave an unforgettable memory. Since it is located in the northern part of Ireland, the weather can be wet and cold for most of the year, so the best time to view the gardens is around may/June when it is most colourful.
