In Donegal, is Rossnowlagh. It is home to “The Heavenly Cove,” a Mecca for surfers. Its pristine waters are home to the annual Inter-Counties Surfing Contest. Rossnowlagh, you can visit the Church of the Friary. You can also see the wall of the original church and Abbey. It is near the Abbey Assaroe Mills dating back to the 12th century. The Mill also houses an Interpretative Center telling the story of the Cistercians. For further information on the area, however, you can visit the Donegal Historical Society museum, in the 1950's Franciscan Friary. It contains exhibits on ancient Irish musical instruments as well as displays of Stone Age flints.
