Gresham Hotel Dublin    

Great place to stay. Very, VERY central. Bss from airport arrives and departs right outside the hotel. City tours also departs directly outside the hotel. However, loud music from nearby nightclub was the background to our sleep. Also the area around the elevator smelled bad. All in all, a great place to stay!

I recently stayed in the Gresham Hotel, O'Connell street as a treat with my young daughter to see a "Girl's Aloud" concert. On arrival, I was asked to provide a credit card, which I realise is normal at any hotel and so I did. However, I made a BIG mistake in mentioning that I never use my credit card anymore and favour my Visa debit card and there are no nasty surprises in the from of a monthly bill! I though no more about it until later that evening when I requested to charge the meal we had to the room and was informed "oh - you're paying by Visa debit - you can't charge anything to the room". So, I paid in cash and didn't really think anymore about it. After the concert, we were hungry and decided to order room service and watch a movie. However, it seemed that we didn't have access to any movies. I phoned reception and was told that access to the internet and movies had been removed from our room as I was going to be paying by Visa debit. I insisted that access be given back and after some sifficuly - it was. The following morning, we went for breakfast and as normal we were asked for our room number. When I did, low and behold the issue of my method of payment was again a topic of some conversation. So it made be wonder are people who chose to spend their own money form their own bank account by using a Visa debit car somehoe less trustworthy than those who choose to pay by means of a credit card?? I chose the Gresham hotel as I wanted the weekend with my daughter to be special. I could have stayed in any number of cheaper hotels! This experience spoile dthe weekend for me and left a very bad taste in my mouth with regards to the Gresham. It's a pity really as I couldn't fault the hotel on other aspects such as cleanliness, the quality of the rooms, food. I'll never go back.

i asked for a twin room to facilitate my daughter and i for a two day leisure break!we were allocated a double.the furniture was tatty,tea and coffee facilities were incredibly basic.the bath panel was hanging off,the noise below the room was terrible with loud music and people shouting until 4am!the luxury ended in the lobby area!i found the hotel advert pictures misleading and the room was not worth the money! for four star even though i booked a standard room i would have expected at the very least a mini bar,coffee machine,information guide of the hotel ie menus etc!totally disappointing trip and i would not recommend!

Relaxed 4* hotel, concierge great, reception a bit stuffy. My room was poky but others were more roomy. Service brilliant, staff friendly and helpful.

Great hotel, clean, Large rooms, Friendly and Helpful staff Highly recommend! Only a few minute walk from the city centre!

having stayed in the greshim before i found the standards average we had no heating in the room although a heater was then provided,Also having recieved this as a present there was a lso a mix up with the payment witch we were not happy about.

To turn up at 8.00am & to be given a room straight away over looking O'Connell Street (with no bribe being offered) was special. To stay in a hotel frequented by rock stars, presidents & royalty was special. That all the staff from the front desk to the cleaners were so friendly was special. The perfect first trip to Dublin.

i had pre booked a table for 12 in toddy`s brasserie as i was entertaining international guests from brazil, usa, italy, uk and spain who were in dublin for my sons wedding on 05/07/2011, and had spoken to restaurant manager who assured me that toddys would be more than capable of providing a great evening for myself and my guests.
however reality was very different, the meal was a disaster,poor service and even poorer quality food and cooking, and to further compound the matter, there was no management available on the night to speak to me, nor was there any senior management available the following morning to speak to me. the duty manager wouldnt come to reception to speak to me and directed the reception manager to deal with me and my complaints.supposedly i am to be contacted by hotel when they investigate my conplaints with toddys management and chef. i await with interest their response.
