The park was designed and funded by a combination of agencies and organizations, including the Stardust Victims Committee, local government and Dublin City Council.

Although it is a sad memory for many people, the beauty of the park is a true tribute. The central area of the 20-acre park features a life sized bronze statue of a dancing couple. Surrounding the statue is a beautiful pool, with 48 jets that provide a continuous fountain. There is also a pond complete with swans, children's playground area and well maintained walking paths through beautiful landscaped grounds.
