The Mansion House is the home of the Lord Mayor of Dublin, and has been occupied by a number of famous Lord Mayors as well as visited by many famous people including Queen Victoria and Pope John Paul II.
The building was built in 1710, and in 1715 was purchased as a residence for the Lord Mayor of Dublin. It was then retained for this purpose to the current time. It has had a few changes made to it over the years, including a covered porch area which was erected pending the visit of Queen Victoria, so that the ageing queen did not get exposed to the elements for too long when leaving her carriage.
