The Muckross House, which is situated in the beautiful town of Killarney, is a highly recommended attraction by tourist experts, worldwide. It is situated near the shores of Muckross Lake which is also known as the Middle lake and in the middle of the Killarney National Park. The Muckross House was built by Henry Arthur Herbert and his lovely wife Mary Balfour Herbert. This House has been occupied by the Herbert Family for over a period of close to 200 years.

The Muckross House was originally intended to build a more ornate house than is witnessed today. The plans for the house, like a larger servant’s quarters, stable block etc., were altered upon Mary’s request. Now the rooms are furnished in period style and depict a certain elegant lifestyle of the 19th century class that owned land. The Muckross house is definitely worth a visit for them that enjoy touching base with the ancient way of living.
