The Ross Castle, a beautiful attraction down in Killarney, is located at the Edge of Lough Leane in Killarney National Park in County Kerry. There is still uncertainty pertaining to the date of the castle’s foundation, but it is believed to have been built in the late 15th century by one of the O'Donoghue Ross Chieftains. This castle is also a typical example of the stronghold of an Irish Chieftain during the times of the middle ages.
Unfortunately the original building collapsed but its replacement has been constructed using the medieval style of building. The most important chamber of the building is the Great Hall and this situated at the upper most level. The finest fireplace of the building is located here and this room might have been the center of activity in the castle. It is a fascinating building for the traveler to see and is also complemented by its wonderful features.
