Tiberias Hotels and Accommodation

For over two thousand years Tiberias, on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee, has been attracting tourists. Today is no exception and there is a lot to do and see in this historical town. As early as Roman times tourists of antiquity were flocking to Tiberias for the healing mineral springs located here. Today just outside of town is Hammat, where you can visit one of Israel's hottest mineral spas. Hammat also has a synagogue built in 341 A.D. This synagogue has an interesting mosaic floor, which depicts naked human forms, a highly unusual occurrence in synagogues. A few kilometers north of Tiberias is Kibbutz Ginnosar, which has a museum devoted to the history of the Galilee area. This museum houses the “Jesus Boat”, a two thousand year old fishing boat that was used in the time of Jesus. Three kilometers to the north of Tiberias, you can visit Mary Magdalene's place of birth, the town of Migdal.
