Astoria Galilee Hotel Tiberias  

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during the Passover. we booked what they call a standard room (double) for $550 USD for the 3 nights.positives:- room was big, with a double and two twins put together. it had a couch and small fridge as well. this may have been one of the bigger rooms and perhaps is reflected in the price.- the room is a mix of old and newly renovated items. Overall, it looked newer than some of the other rooms we saw.- it was clean and cleaned well daily by the staff. - breakfast - great spread of vegetables, dips, eggs, cheese, yogurt and much more. we appreciated the big breakfast every morning- location is okay. it's about a 20 min walk to the promenade where all the action of the city is. but it's a 20 min walk uphill all the way back to the hotel. it's still in the heart of the city of Tiberias. all in all, this is not really a positive or a negative, it's really what you want and what you want to pay for location.- we did not have a car, but we noted there is some parking for guests.negatives:- price. a bit pricey from a north american standpoint for what you get. but given the time (passover) it was still one of the cheaper options we could find.- wifi internet is free but could not access it from our room as claimed by the front desk. we could only access it near the hotel lobby. Also, it is NOT password protected which makes it a bit sketchy.- swimming pool. we were told the swimming pool was available to us. however, when we went to use it, it was locked. when asking the front desk if we could use it, they said it was too cold. it was about 20 d celsius that day. he refused to open the pool for us.
