The Tel Aviv HaShalom Railway Station is another one of the biggest and most active train stations on the network belonging to Israel Railways, the state-owned company that runs all of Israel's railroads. As it is located in the city of Tel Aviv, the central hub of most of Israel Railways' lines, it serves six out of the eight railway lines operating in the state of Israel. The station opened in 1996 right in the middle of Tel Aviv's commercial center, on a major interchange of the busy Ayalon Highway. A bridge connects the station to a complex of three magnificent skyscrapers, the Azrieli Center.
Tourists visiting Israel will be amazed at this large, futuristic-looking train station, which looks like something out of a science fiction metropolis. Facilities include automatic ticket vendors, telephones, restroom, shopping, dining, parking, taxis, and access to city buses. Although the station itself doesn't offer shopping facilities, there is a shopping mall at the base of the Azrieli skyscraper complex.
