The coastal city of Agrigento is home to nearly 60,000 people and serves as the capital of the Sicilian province of the same name. Settled over 2,500 years ago by the Greeks, there is plenty of history to be found here. Perhaps most famous is the World Heritage site known as the Valley of the Temples, found just outside the Medieval city center. Visitors will also enjoy the Museum of Archaeology, located very near the Grecian ruins that include the well-preserved Tempe of Concord. The Chiesa di Santa Maria dei Greci is a Normal cathedral that dates back to the 10th century.
