Acqui Terme is a spa city of nearly 20,000 in Italy's Piedmonte Region. Known to Romans as Aquae Statiellae, the hot, sulphurated water that emerge from springs in the city center at nearly 170F (75C). One of the most visited landmarks in the city center is the Piazza della Bollente, a public square and fountain constructed in the 19th century that features hot mineral water. Some of the best preserved Roman ruins in Northern Italy are found just outside town at the site of the old Aquaduct, with five arches still in tact.
